Process Levels


A comprehensive business process footprint provides the clarity and details of the organisation's functions at each of three levels: Enterprise, Process, and Task level.


In order for business processes to drive value, the adequate level of detail is required at each of these levels within the organisation.

             

Process maps at each of these levels plays an important and distinct role within BPM Methodology enabled transformations.

  • Represents a strategic view of the organisation

  • Identifies major business functions

  • Outlines organisational units within the company

  • Identifies external entities that interact with the company

  • Identifies geographical locations of functional units

  • Shows data flows in/out of the organisation and within

  • Represents core operating processes

  • Outlines workflows and functional dependencies

  • Identifies required inputs and expected process outputs

  • Identifies contributing roles and associated tasks performed

  • Represents decision points

  • Depicts human/system interfaces

Task Level

  • Represents the activity details of process charts

  • Role specific

  • Details Inputs / processing / outputs of each activity

  • Lists activities performed within tasks

  • Depicts how activities should  be performed

  • Provides a measure of performance/throughput

  • References systems used
